The main issue for student career development is lack of practical field experience. When employers increased job requirements to Associate and Bachelor’s degrees; it caused a flux in higher education. The No Child Left Behind law and Perkins Act 2006 also changed the demand for career and academic preparation of high school graduates. Now, after the economic recession, employers continue to require higher education in addition- experience. As a safety precaution, the workforce environment have adapted to hiring candidates with a balance of education and experience. As part of career development, we need to make our student more competitive by providing more practical experience and on the job training.
